How to Install Binance on Huawei Phones Without Google Play

· About 15 min

The Unique Situation with Huawei Phones

Huawei phones face a more challenging issue when installing the Binance app compared to other Android phones: since 2019, newer Huawei phones no longer come pre-installed with Google Mobile Services (GMS), which means Google Play Store is also unavailable.

While other domestic Android brands (such as Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, etc.) face the same lack of pre-installed GMS, the APK installation process is largely the same for them. However, Huawei phones have some unique aspects: Huawei uses its proprietary HarmonyOS, which differs from other Android phones in certain security settings and permission management.

Additionally, Huawei's own app store (AppGallery) doesn't have the Binance app either. So the primary way for Huawei users to install Binance is by downloading the APK installation package from the official website.

Complete Steps for Installing Binance on Huawei

Step one: Check your system version.

Go to "Settings" > "About Phone" to check your system version. HarmonyOS 2.0 and above or Android 6.0 and above can run the Binance app. If your system version is too old, update it first.

Step two: Open a browser and visit the Binance website.

Huawei's built-in browser works fine. Open the browser and visit Binance Official to access the download page. Due to network restrictions, you may need to connect through a network tool first.

Step three: Download the APK file.

Find the "Download" button on the Binance website, select the Android version, and download the APK installation package. Don't switch apps or lock the screen during the download — keep the download page in the foreground to ensure the download isn't interrupted.

Huawei's browser may display a security warning saying "This file may be risky" or similar. If you've confirmed you're downloading from Binance's official website, select "Continue Download."

Step four: Allow installation from unknown sources.

HarmonyOS and EMUI system paths:

  • HarmonyOS 3.0 and above: Settings > Security > More Security Settings > Install External Source Apps > Find the browser > Enable
  • HarmonyOS 2.0/EMUI 11 and above: Settings > Security > More Security Settings > Install Unknown Apps > Select browser > Allow
  • EMUI 10 and below: Settings > Security > Unknown Sources > Toggle on

If you can't find the relevant option in settings, search for "unknown apps" or "external sources" in the settings search bar.

Step five: Install the APK.

After the download completes, tap the download completion notification in the notification bar, or open "File Manager" > "Downloads" folder and find the Binance APK file to install.

During installation, Huawei's "Pure Mode" may block the installation. If you encounter "Pure Mode" blocking:

Settings > Security > More Security Settings > Pure Mode > Disable

After disabling Pure Mode, try the installation again. You can re-enable Pure Mode after installation is complete if desired.

Step six: Trust the app.

Huawei phones may display a "This app has not been verified by Huawei" or similar security warning when first opening the app after installation. Select "Continue Using" or "Open Anyway."

Huawei-Specific Installation Issues

Issue 1: Pure Mode blocks installation.

This is the most frequently reported issue by Huawei users. HarmonyOS enables "Pure Mode" by default, which prevents installing apps not from the Huawei AppGallery. The solution is to temporarily disable Pure Mode (path above), install the app, and then re-enable it.

Issue 2: App icon doesn't appear after installation.

On some Huawei models, the app icon may not appear on the home screen after APK installation. Solution: Swipe down on the home screen to open the search bar, search for "Binance" — if it shows up, the installation was successful. You can also check in "Settings" > "App Management."

If confirmed installed but not showing on the home screen, check "Settings" > "Home Screen & Wallpaper" > "Home Screen Settings" to see if "Drawer Mode" is enabled. In drawer mode, newly installed apps may appear in the app drawer rather than directly on the home screen.

Issue 3: HarmonyOS compatibility issues.

While HarmonyOS is compatible with most Android apps, minor compatibility issues may occasionally arise, such as incomplete interface display or unresponsive buttons. If this occurs, try:

  • Check if a newer APK version is available, as it may already be adapted for HarmonyOS
  • Clear the app cache and retry
  • Disable hardware acceleration in app settings (if the option exists)

Issue 4: Push notifications not received.

Huawei phones have aggressive battery management that may kill the Binance app's background processes, preventing push notifications. Solution:

Settings > Battery > App Launch > Find Binance > Manage Manually > Allow Auto-launch, Allow Associated Launch, Allow Background Activity

Also ensure Binance's notification permissions are enabled in Settings > Notifications.

Installing Binance on Huawei Tablets

If you're using a Huawei MatePad series tablet, the installation process is essentially the same as for phones. However, note when using the Binance app on a tablet:

The Binance app is primarily designed for phone screens, so on tablets, you may encounter stretched interfaces or unusually sized fonts. HarmonyOS tablet mode may run the app in split-screen or windowed mode. If this feels awkward, go to "Settings" > "Display" > "App Display Management" and set Binance to full-screen mode.

Alternatively, you can use the browser-based version of Binance on the tablet — the web version may actually display better on larger screens than the mobile app.

How to Keep the App Updated

Since Huawei phones can't automatically update the Binance app through Google Play or Huawei AppGallery, you'll need to update manually:

  1. Periodically open the Binance app to check for update prompts
  2. Periodically visit the Binance website download page to check for the latest version
  3. Download the latest APK and install over the existing version (no need to uninstall the old version first)

Overlay installation preserves your account data — you won't need to log in again. It's recommended to check for new versions every month or two, updating promptly for the latest features and security fixes.

If you encounter new issues after an update (e.g., the new version is unstable on your phone), consider temporarily using the web version and waiting for a subsequent version to fix the issues before updating.
